Ryan Yu from Toronto, Canada is a Dragon Duel World Champion and is the reigning Yu-Gi-Oh! MASTER DUEL World Champion, but has not yet won a YCS. Now, he’s looking for that first YCS victory with his Sky Striker Deck! Very few Duelists were expecting a Sky Striker Deck to take the tournament this weekend, so a victory for him here would be a huge surprise to Duelists around the world! Landon Oliver from Aurora, Colorado competed in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship this year, and he’s after his first YCS victory with his Fire King Snake-Eye Azamina Deck. Now, these two seasoned Duelists are facing off in the Finals of YCS Niagara Falls! Only one of them can take home the trophy and the Ultra Rare Anotherverse Solaria. It’s time to Duel!
Duel One
Ryan Yu won the die roll and chose to go second.
Oliver started off the Match by activating Bonfire to add Snake-Eyes Poplar from his Deck to his hand.
He used its effect to Special Summon it and then activated its effect on the field to add Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye to his hand. He activated it by sending Poplar to the Graveyard and Special Summoned Snake-Eye Ash from his Deck. He used Ash’s effect to add Legendary Fire King Ponix from his Deck to his hand and put Poplar into his Spell & Trap Card Zone with its effect. Next, he used Ash’s effect and sent it to the Graveyard along with Poplar to Special Summoned Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon in Defense Position. He Normal Summoned Ponix next and used its effect to add Fire King Sanctuary from his Deck to his hand. He activated it and placed Fire King Island into his Field Spell Zone. He used Island’s effect to destroy Ulcanix from his hand and add Sacred Fire King Garunix from his deck to his hand. He activated the effects of Ulcanix and Garunix. He Special Summoned Fire King High Avatar Garunix from his Deck and Special Summoned Sacred Fire King Garunix from his hand. He used Sacred Fire King Garunix’s on-field effect to destroy Fire King Avatar Arvata from his Deck and used Arvata’s effect to Special Summon Ulcanix. Next, he sent Ulcanix and Sacred Fire King Garunix to the Graveyard to Link Summon I:P Masquerena. He sent it to the Graveyard along with Fire King High Avatar Garunix to Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames. He used its effect to Special Summon Ulcanix and used Ulcanix’s effect to destroy Ponix and add Fire King High Avatar Kirin from his Deck to his hand. Next, he sent Ulcanix and Promethean Princess to the Graveyard to Link Summon Amphibious Swarmship Amblowhale. He activated the effect of Flamberge Dragon to move Arvata from his Graveyard to his Spell & Trap Card Zone and then passed his turn.
Yu opened Duel 2 up with Forbidden Droplet, Sky Striker Ace – Roze, Cosmic Cyclone, Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon, and Sky Striker Mobilize – Linkage. He drew Sky Striker Mecha Modules – Multirole and Oliver returned Ponix from his Graveyard to his hand in the Standby Phase. Yu entered his Main Phase and activated Shark Cannon to banish Promethean Princess from Oliver’s Graveyard. Next, he activated Cosmic Cyclone and paid 1000 Life Points to banish Fire King island. Oliver Chained Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Arvata and then the Island’s effect destroyed all of his monsters! Oliver used the effects of Amblowhale, Flamberge Dragon, and Arvata. He Special Summoned Ulcanix, Poplar, Ash, and I:P Masquerena back from the Graveyard. Yu Normal Summoned Roze, prompting Oliver to activate his Masquerena’s effect. He sent Masquerena and Poplar to the Graveyard to Link Summon S:P Little Knight and used the effects of Little Knight and Poplar. He used Little Knight’s effect to banish Shark Cannon from Yu’s Graveyard and used Poplar’s effect to move the Poplar to his Spell & Trap Card Zone. In a new Chain, Oliver activated the effect of the Kirin in his hand by destroying Ponix from his hand, and Special Summoned the Kirin. Then he activated Sacred Fire King Garunix’s effect. He destroyed the Kirin and then used Kirin’s effect to Special Summon Arvata and destroy Yu’s Roze. Next, Yu activated Multirole. He entered his Battle Phase and then activated Linkage. He Chained Forbidden Droplet by sending Linkage to the Graveyard. He negated the effect of Little Knight with Droplet and then sent Droplet to the Graveyard to resolve Linkage and Special Summon Hayate. He attacked Little Knight with Hayate to destroy it in battle and then activated Hayate’s effect. Oliver used his Arvata’s effect to destroy Ulcanix and negate the effect of Hayate. Next, Oliver banished Amblowhale from his Graveyard to destroy Multirole and Yu Special Summoned Roze from his Graveyard since Little Knight was destroyed in the Extra Monster Zone. Roze attacked and destroyed Ash, and then Yu entered Main Phase 2. In Main Phase 2, Yu sent Roze to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari. He used Kagari’s effect to return Multirole from his Graveyard to his hand. Next, he sent Kagari and Hayate to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Zeke. He used Zeke’s effect to banish Sacred Fire King Garunix until Oliver’s next End Phase and then sent Zeke to the Graveyard to Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku. He entered his End Phase and used Shizuku’s effect to add Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from his Deck to his hand.
Oliver drew a card for his turn and then returned Ponix from his Graveyard to his hand in the Standby Phase. He banished Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Graveyard and returned Flamberge Dragon from his Graveyard to his Deck to add Snake-Eye Oak from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and used its effect to Special Summon Snake-Eye Ash from his Graveyard. He used Ash’s effect to send it to his Graveyard along with Poplar and Special Summon Flamberge Dragon. He used Poplar’s effect to move Snake-Eye Ash into his back row and then used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to move Shizuku into Yu’s back row. Next, Oliver activated the effect of Kirin in his hand. He destroyed Arvata and Special Summoned the Kirin. He used Arvata’s effect to Special Summon Fire King High Avatar Garunix from his Graveyard in Attack Position. Direct attacks from Oak, Flamberge Dragon, Kirin, and Fire King High Avatar Garunix wiped out all 8000 of Yu’s Life Points!

Duel Two
Oliver started off Duel 2 by activating Bonfire and using its effect to add Snake-Eye Ash from his Deck to his hand. He Normal Summoned it and used its effect to add Poplar from his Deck to his hand. He used Poplar’s effect to Special Summon it. He used Ash’s effect to send Ash and Poplar to the Graveyard and Summon Flamberge Dragon from his Deck in Defense Position. He used Poplar’s effect to put Poplar in his back row and then activated WANTED: Seeker of Sinful Spoils. He added Diabellstar the Black Witch to his hand and then Summoned it by sending Poplar to the Graveyard. He used Diabellstar’s seffect to Set Deception of the Sinful Spoils from his Deck to his field and then flipped it face-up. He used its effect to Tribute Diabellstar and add The Hallowed Azamina from his Deck to his hand. He activated it, revealed Azamina Ilia Silvia from his Extra Deck, sent Deception to the Graveyard, and Summoned the Ilia Silvia. Next, he activated Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye and sent Flamberge Dragon to the Graveyard to Special Summon Legendary Fire King Ponix from his Deck. He used the effects of Flamberge Dragon and Ponix. He added Fire King Sanctuary to his hand with Ponix’s effect and Special Summoned Ash and Poplar from the Graveyard with Flamberge Dragon’s effect. He activated Sanctuary next, and placed Fire King Island from his Deck into his Field Spell Zone. He used Island’s effect to destroy Ponix and add Sacred Fire King Garunix from his Deck to his hand. He activated its effect to Special Summon it and then used its on-field effect to destroy Arvata from his Deck. He used Arvata’s effect to Special Summon Ponix from his Graveyard and then sent Garunix and Poplar to the Graveyard to Link Summon I:P Masquerena. He sent Masquerena and Ash to the Graveyard to Link Summon Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames. He used the Princess’s effect to Special Summon Flamberge Dragon back to the field and then sent Ponix and Promethean Princess to the Graveyard to Link Summon Amblowhale. Next, he used Flamberge Dragon’s effect to move Arvata from his Graveyard into his back row and banished WANTED from his Graveyard to return Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Graveyard to his Deck and draw a card. He Set a card to his back row and then Set Deception from his Graveyard to his field in the End Phase.
Yu opened up Duel 2 with Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon, 2 copies of Upstart Goblin, and 2 copies of Pot of Desire.
He drew Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners! and activated it to destroy Ilia Silvia. Next, he activated Pot of Desire by banishing the top 10 cards of his Deck face-down; but Oliver negated it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring! Yu activated Upstart Goblin next and drew Lightning Storm while giving Oliver 1000 Life Points. Yu activated another Upstart Goblin to draw Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones and boost Oliver’s Life Points to 10,000. Yu activated Lightning Storm to destroy all of Oliver’s Spells & Traps! Oliver Chained Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Arvata, and used his Sanctuary to protect Fire King Island by destroying Flamberge Dragon. He used his Flamberge Dragon’s effect to Special Summon Ponix and Poplar from his Graveyard and then used Ponix’s effect to add Original Sinful Spoils – Snake-Eye from his Deck to his hand. Yu Set Shark Cannon to his Spell & Trap Card Zone and then ended his turn with no other play.
Oliver drew a card and then activated the effect of The Hallowed Azamina in his Graveyard to return it to his hand. Yu finally extended the handshake in concession, acknowledging he was defeated.
